Castellammare del Golfo (Casteddammari in Sicilian) is located on the north coast of the province of Trapani in Sicily, between Palermo and Trapani, and has just over 15,000 inhabitants. It is an ancient city which was founded by the empire of the nearby Segesta.
In the past Castellammare del Golfo was dominated by several nations including the Arabs, who dominated the city around 800 and renamed the town to “Al Madarig”, which later evolved to Castellammare.
Castellammare del Golfo is at the foot of the mountain chain “Monte Inici” and it has a rich heritage which makes it now a major tourist resort of great historical and cultural value.
Today the city thrives on tourism as Castellammare del Golfo has much to offer such as phenomenal beaches, beautiful bays and crystal clear waters.
In order to arrive in Castellammare you can fly on both Palermo and Trapani. Palermo – Castellammare is 30 minutes, Trapani – Castellammare is 45 minutes.
